Just One More Bag

Our Authentication
Process

Every bag in our collection is individually inspected and verified by our team of experts before being listed for sale. Here is exactly how we do it.

"We never list a bag we would not buy ourselves — every piece is authentic or it does not exist in our shop."

Why authentication matters

The pre-owned luxury market is unfortunately filled with counterfeit bags. Spotting a fake requires years of experience, brand-specific knowledge and a keen eye for detail.

At Just One More Bag, authentication is not a checkbox — it is the foundation of everything we do. Every single bag goes through our rigorous multi-step verification process before it ever appears on our website.

Our team has years of experience authenticating bags from all major designer houses and stays up to date with the latest authentication techniques and known counterfeit patterns.

How we work

Our 6-Step Authentication Process

01

Initial Assessment

Every bag submitted to Just One More Bag — whether for sale or consignment — undergoes an initial visual assessment. We examine the overall condition, shape and first impressions before proceeding to detailed inspection.

02

Hardware & Logo Inspection

We closely examine all hardware, clasps, zippers and logo placements. Authentic designer bags have very specific hardware finishes, engravings and logo proportions that counterfeiters consistently get wrong.

  • Weight and feel of hardware
  • Logo engravings and font accuracy
  • Zipper brand and quality
  • Clasp mechanisms and alignment
03

Stitching & Construction

Luxury bags are handcrafted with extreme precision. We examine every seam, stitch count, thread colour and construction detail. Authentic bags have consistent, even stitching with specific stitch counts per centimetre that vary by brand.

  • Stitch count and consistency
  • Thread colour and quality
  • Seam alignment and finishing
  • Lining attachment and quality
04

Materials & Leather Quality

Authentic designer bags use specific grades of leather, canvas and fabric that have a distinctive look, feel and smell. We examine the texture, grain pattern, flexibility and ageing characteristics of all materials.

  • Leather grain and texture
  • Canvas print quality and alignment
  • Interior lining material and finish
  • Patina and ageing characteristics
05

Serial Numbers & Date Codes

Most designer brands include serial numbers, date codes or authenticity codes on their bags. We verify these against brand-specific formats and known authentic examples to confirm the bag's origin and production period.

  • Serial number format and placement
  • Date code verification
  • Authenticity card cross-reference
  • Brand-specific code formats
06

Final Verification & Photography

After passing all previous steps, the bag receives our final approval. We then photograph every detail — including any signs of wear — to ensure complete transparency with our buyers. Only then does the bag go live on our website.

  • Final approval by senior authenticator
  • Detailed photography from all angles
  • Honest condition assessment and rating
  • Just One More Bag Authenticity Guarantee issued
Brand expertise

What we look for per brand

Chanel

We verify the iconic CC clasp alignment, quilting pattern consistency, stitch count (typically 10 per inch), leather quality and serial sticker format inside the bag.

Louis Vuitton

We examine the monogram canvas print alignment (never cuts through the LV logo at seams), date code format, vachetta leather quality and heat stamp precision.

Prada

We verify the Saffiano leather cross-hatch pattern, enamel triangle logo placement and font, interior card format and authenticity card number match.

Gucci

We check the GG canvas alignment, leather trim quality, interior serial number format, zipper pull finish and the distinctive Gucci font on all hardware.

Hermès

As the ultimate luxury brand, Hermès authentication is extremely detailed. We examine blind stamps, leather grain, saddle stitch quality and all hardware hallmarks.

All other brands

For all other brands in our collection we apply the same rigorous standards — hardware, stitching, materials, serial numbers and brand-specific authentication points.

Our Authenticity Guarantee

Every bag that passes our authentication process comes with the Just One More Bag Authenticity Guarantee. This means we stand behind every single item we sell.
